About Mark Finch

Born in Birmingham in 1968, Mark grew up in rural Herefordshire before attending Queen Mary College, London. He graduated with a BA(Hons) in Human Geography then took time away, from his studies, to travel extensively. Returning to the UK, Mark continued his education by training as an Art teacher at the University of Central England. Upon graduation he returned to London where he spent several years teaching Art in a number of secondary schools followed by a rewarding career at a Pupil Referral Unit. Throughout this time Mark continued to paint, developing his distinctive style.

Mark's work is predominantly narrative - depicting mythical and biblical stories in a contemporary setting. Alongside the narrative paintings, he has enjoyed commercial success selling his oil and acrylic abstract paintings. These paintings find their beginnings in loose, or accidental, marks on canvas which are then developed through the numerous layers of colour and textural mediums.

Mark currently lives and works in Herefordshire.
